Oruaiti School Rules

 

I will listen to my teachers and show them respect by obeying them the first time I am asked.

 

I will treat other students the way I would like to be treated so that we can all be safe.

 

I will speak politely to adults and children, only using words which are appropriate at school.

 

I will treat school property and the property of other students with respect.

 

I will stay within the school grounds unless I am supervised by an adult.

 

I will only travel in cars with other parents if my parents or teachers say it is okay.

 

Clothing

 

Hats –In Terms 1 & 4 I will wear the school sun-hat outside and try to   keep my shoulders covered.

 

Footwear – I will wear footwear on all trips out of the school

 

Uniform –All children must wear correct school uniform daily, only adding a black or white skivvy in cooler weather. 

 

Make-up - I will not wear make-up of any kind.

 

Jewellery – No fashion jewellery is to be added to the school uniform.  Small silver/gold earrings of the stud variety only allowed.

 

Playground Rules

 

To be safe outside, I will not play chasing games on the Adventure   

Playground or Confidence Course.

 

I will remember that only one bare-footed person at a time can safely use the trampolines.

 

I will only play on the bottom field with adult supervision.

 

I will walk around corners.

 

I will remember that toilets are unsafe areas in which to congregate or play.

 

I will only use a computer or the internet with the teacher’s   permission and if I bring electronic equipment to school, I will hand it in at the office at the beginning of the day.

 

To comply with our healthy school policy, I will only bring healthy snacks to school.  I will take my own packaging/rubbish home in my lunch-box. 

 

Rewards for living up to these expectations can be stickers, prizes, class trips, caught being good prizes, certificates and other incentives, at the teacher’s discretion.

 

Consequences for forgetting these rules may be restorative practice, a verbal warning, written warning, time-out, detention, stand-down or suspension from school.

 

Bus Behaviour

 

If a child’s bus behaviour is inappropriate they will receive a written          warning and if there is no improvement they will be stood down from using the bus for a week (during this time parents will be responsible for transporting their child to and from school).
